Port Blakely

The winners of Port Blakely Tree Farms 2010 Drawing and Poem Contests for Oregon and Washington have been selected! This year there were 486 drawing submissions and 211 poem submissions from both states. Port Blakely Tree Farms wishes to thank every student that submitted drawings and poems. 

The winners of the Oregon drawing and poem contests were fourth grade students in Ms. Fitch’s class at Eccles Elementary and Mrs. Turcotte’s class at Lee Elementary, both schools located within the Canby School District.

The winners of the Washington drawing and poem contests were fourth grade students in Mrs. Raben’s class at Pioneer Elementary and Mrs. Koster’s class at Garfield Elementary, both schools located within the Olympia School District.

Port Blakely Tree Farms started the annual contest in 1996 for students who participate in our Environmental Education program. Contest winners are chosen by vote among the Port Blakely forestry staff. The wining drawing and poem are consolidated into one winning poster per state and distributed to participating schools. Winning posters are also showcased on the Port Blakely environmental education website.

This year, Port Blakely is proud to display the winning Washington poster on a billboard viewable from the westbound lanes of State Route 108 east of McCleary.
