Issaquah Highlands
Issaquah Highlands is an urban village reminiscent of friendly, turn-of-the-century neighborhoods.
Featuring narrow, tree-lined streets, broad sidewalks, and porches perfect for meeting neighbors, it evokes a pleasant small town feel. The crowning touch is the 1,400 acres of open space and wooded trails surrounding the community.
Issaquah Highlands embodies the concept of 'smart growth' by clustering homes and services to reduce traffic and preserve open space. High Street, the community's vibrant retail area, will contain most of the community's retail and commercial activity, as well as apartments and townhouses. As part of our commitment to reducing traffic congestion, Issaquah Highlands will also include a 1,000 car park and ride lot. In addition, Microsoft is purchasing land for a planned 30-building, 150-acre Microsoft campus that may provide as many as 14,000 jobs.
In fact, when it's completed, Issaquah Highlands will be a small city, with restaurants, shops, a fire station, a hotel, a school, jobs, parks, and trails.
Issaquah Highlands is a model of environmentally sensitive development. During site preparation our engineers use innovative techniques developed by Port Blakely engineers to ensure that water quality and the surrounding wildlife habitat are protected.
During construction of Issaquah Highlands, we recycled dirt that would have normally gone to a landfill, separating it into top soil, rocks, and fill. The top soil was used in landscaping, the rocks were used in road culverts to help filter storm water runoff, and we used the remaining fill dirt to create baseball and soccer fields on park land we deeded to King County and the City of Issaquah.
