Purpose/ Overview

Responsible
to maintain, repair and upgrade
community landscapes and perform
other seasonal work, as
necessary to maintain community
appearance standards. |

Maintain, Repair and Upgrade
Community Landscapes
§
Maintain turf,
shrubs, trees and planting beds
as necessary and as directed by
Landscape Manager. Perform work
in a neat and conscientious
manner while adhering to a
production schedule.
§
Pruning, leaf
collection, herbicide
applications, irrigation repairs
and upgrades, invasive weed
management, drainage,
low-voltage lighting,
transplanting and planting |

Perform
Seasonal Tasks as directed by
the Landscape Manager:
§
Assist in any
miscellaneous tasks as directed
by the Landscape or Operations
Manager of the Community
Association relevant to the
duties of this position and/or
general landscape and
infrastructure maintenance as
needed, and as seasons dictate.
§
Minor facilities
maintenance duties may include
painting, light carpentry and
concrete work. |

While
performing the duties of this
job the employee is in a typical
field environment, is required
to regularly walk, sit, talk or
hear and stand, tolerate working
extended periods in inclement
weather. Frequent use of power
landscape tools including
mowers, edgers, blowers, string
trimmers, hand tools (including
shears), safety equipment,
computers, cell phones, and
other specialized industry
equipment (possibly including
rented power equipment), is
required. Occasional lifting of
up to 50 pounds or more, such as
balled-and-burlapped trees.
Potential interruptions of work
flow.
Most of the
work is seasonal in nature and
though varied throughout the
year will include months of
repetition (such as mowing, leaf
control and pruning).
Valid
Washington State Driver’s
License with a driving record
free from serious or frequent
violations required as position
requires use of Community
electric vehicles for
transportation within Issaquah
Highlands. |
Qualifications/ Competencies
The
requirements listed below are
representative of the knowledge,
skills, and abilities required
to perform the job. |
-
Education/Experience –
A minimum of three years
experience in ornamental
landscape maintenance
required. Post-secondary
education in horticulture
preferred. Journeyman-level
expertise with turf
maintenance and related
equipment required.
Successful candidate will be
familiar with regional and
native ornamental plants
(including weeds and other
pests), their care and
proper culture. Ornamental
pest control license
(private applicator) is a
plus. Familiarity with
Integrated Pest Management (IPM)
a plus.

Language Ability –
Ability to read, analyze,
and interpret information.
Ability to effectively
present information and
respond to questions from
managers and the general
public. Working knowledge
of Spanish a plus.

Math Ability –Ability to
calculate areas, time,
ratios and percentages.
-
Computer/Technical Skills -
e-mail, Outlook
Calendar, and other
specialized software
applications are utilized
frequently.

Customer Service Skills
- Must project a friendly,
service-oriented and helpful
demeanor when interacting
with residents and others at
all times. Ability to
maintain composure and
communicate effectively when
handling complaints from
residents.
